About this Event
Muslim Writers Collective (MWC) is one of the largest and longest-running open mics in the United States dedicated to promoting storytelling, creativity, and the arts in the Muslim community. Founded in 2014 in New York City, we have held over 250 events in a dozen cities and are reviving the vibrant creative and literary tradition of our shared heritage, one open mic at a time.
We are excited to be holding our first open mic in Miami on the theme of CROSSROADS. Miami is a city at the crossroads – of continents, of cultures, of cuisines, and more. Tell us about a time in your life when you felt you were at the crossroads. How did it feel? How did you act? What did you learn from the experience?
Join us and share your story, through spoken word, poetry, music, stand up comedy, performance art – whatever medium you like!
We are thrilled to be hosted at the Blockchain Center, a lynchpin of the revitalization of downtown Miami and a launchpad for the latest in financial and social technologies.
Doors open at 5:00pm, and the event begins at 6:00pm.

Founded in 2014 in New York City, we have held over 250 events in a dozen cities and are reviving the vibrant creative and literary tradition of our shared heritage, one open mic at a time. We have welcomed thousands of attendees and hundreds of first time performers of all ages and backgrounds to share nuanced and often deeply moving facets of the Muslim experience in the West. VICE has acclaimed us as “a space for young Muslims to honor their humanity” and PRI has called us “an oasis to Muslims in Trump’s America.” Join us at an upcoming open mic near you!
